SHIPPING

Do you ship outside of the lower 48?

Yes.  We will ship to all 50 US States for Free!  We also ship to Canada and Mexico, but additional fees are charged.  If you are outside of North America, please visit http://starkayaksails.com/ and contact Mr. Bill Pain as he handles all international inquiries.

How long does shipping take?

Generally, you will have your sail within two weeks.  These are manufactured once ordered.  Remember these quality sails are produced by hand with painstaking care!

Will I be charged for taxes?

As there is no brick-and-mortar store in the US, there will be no additional taxes charged at check-out.  Due to the recent Supreme Court Ruling, this may change, but we are a very small company and do not expect this to impact our business model.

Fitting Your Boat

Which boats will a STAR Kayak Sail Fit?

The STAR Kayak Sail is designed to fit the Hobie Mirage line of Kayaks featuring a 7/8" mast receiver without any modification to your kayak (this is all of the Hobie Mirage Line with the exception of the Adventure Island Series which uses a larger mast receiver).  The STAR Kayak Sail Mast will fit any mast receiver which is 7/8" diameter and can be fitted to other kayaks with the installation of a mast receiver tube.

Do I have to drill holes in my boat?

For most of the Hobie Mirage range, the only holes you will need to drill are for the line guide (goes around the outside of the hull below the paddle holder) and the furling cleat installed on the inside of the cockpit.  The pulleys can be installed using the existing hardware for rudder controls and rod holder covers.  All kayaks are going to be different, and some may require more or less drilling than others.  If you do not have a kayak with a built in mast receiver, then you will have to modify your kayak to allow a mast to be inserted into the boat (normally not a difficult proposition)

What size sail should I get?

Do you live in a consistantly windy area?  If so, maybe you should go smaller.  Do you live in an area where winds are light or you consider yourself an expert sailer?  Maybe go for the Supernova.  Somewhere inbetween?  Welcome to the Giant.
